Destruction of the Gate of Zedan

The Destruction of the Gate of Zedan (ゼダンの門の破壊) was the 18 January UC 0088 attack in which Haman Karn’s Axis Zeon forces deliberately rammed the asteroid Axis into the Gate of Zedan, the Titans space headquarters. The collision destroyed the fortress and much of the Titans’ remaining space fleet, marking a decisive turn in the Gryps Conflict and paving the way for the Battle of Gryps 2.

Background

The Gate of Zedan was the former Zeon fortress A Baoa Qu, recommissioned by the Titans near Luna II. With the Gryps Conflict at a critical stage, Axis Zeon under Haman Karn had entered the Earth Sphere. Haman chose to use the asteroid Axis itself as a weapon, manoeuvring it on a collision course with the Gate of Zedan.

Attack

On 18 January UC 0088, Axis struck the Gate of Zedan. The impact destroyed the fortress and inflicted heavy losses on the Titans’ space forces. Axis Zeon then seized the Gryps II colony laser, setting the stage for the final Battle of Gryps 2 on 22 February UC 0088.

Aftermath

The destruction removed the Titans’ primary space headquarters and accelerated their collapse. The event is cited in the Gryps Conflict timeline and in the Gate of Zedan location article.
