The Colony Corporation Ship was a small escort vessel used by the Colony Public Corporation to supervise the transport and maintenance of space colonies during the Colony Reclamation Project.
History
The Colony Corporation Ship was operated by the Colony Public Corporation, the civilian organisation responsible for the maintenance and repair of space colonies throughout the Earth Sphere. These vessels served as escort and supervisory ships during major colony transport operations.
In November UC 0083, the Colony Corporation Ship Quartz was escorting two space colonies during their transport from Side 1 to Side 3 as part of the Colony Reclamation Project. This ambitious project aimed to restore damaged colonies from the One Year War and relocate them to areas where they could be put back into productive use.
The transport operation was intercepted by the Cima Fleet under Cima Garahau, which was working in conjunction with the Delaz Fleet as part of Operation Stardust. The Zeon remnant forces hijacked the two colonies for use in their planned colony drop attack on Earth.
Despite the crew’s pleas to the Zeon forces, Cima ignored their protests and ordered the destruction of the escort ship. The Quartz was sunk by an MS-14F Gelgoog Marine, and the colonies were seized for the Delaz Fleet’s operation.
Design
The Colony Corporation Ship was a small, lightly built vessel designed for civilian escort duties rather than combat operations. Its primary role was to provide oversight and coordination during complex colony transport operations, which required precise navigation and timing to move the massive space habitats safely.
The ship featured a simple design optimised for long-range space operations. It was equipped with two rocket engines that provided sufficient thrust for keeping pace with the slow-moving colony transports whilst maintaining a safe distance.
As a civilian vessel, the Colony Corporation Ship carried no armaments and relied entirely on the peaceful nature of its mission for protection. This proved to be a fatal weakness when confronted by hostile military forces during the Colony Reclamation Project.

The Colony Corporation Ship was designed specifically for Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory to illustrate the civilian infrastructure required for major space construction projects in the Universal Century.
