AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai
High performance commander mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics.
AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai
The AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai was a high performance commander version of the AMS-119 Geara Doga used by Char Aznable’s Neo Zeon movement during the Second Neo Zeon War in UC 0093. Based on the AMS-119 Geara Doga, the AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai was developed as a high-performance machine for commanders.
The “AMS” in the model code indicated it was manufactured by Anaheim Electronics, the “119” denoted the design series, and the “S” suffix identified it as a special or custom variant. The “Kai” designation signified it was an improved version of the base design.
History
The AMS-119S was developed alongside another variant, the AMS-120X Geara Doga Psycommu Test Type. The AMS-119S used the same moveable frame as the standard AMS-119, although its armour replaced the titanium alloy ceramic composite with Gundarium alloy, which resulted in a 40 percent increase in defence.
The AMS-119S also featured new avionics that led to increased performance over the original. The suit’s armaments included a beam machine gun, a beam sword/axe, an electric wire to shock enemies and a shield that mounted four missiles.
Production of the AMS-119S was suspended due to Neo Zeon having to allocate its limited resources to developing the massive mobile armor NZ-333 α Azieru. Although it was a high-performance machine, mass production of this machine was postponed due to the decision to develop the α Azieru, which required the full power of the Neo Zeon MS development team, and it was only manufactured as a prototype.
Design
The Geara Doga Kai used the same movable frame as the Geara Doga, but the armor material was changed to Gundarium alloy, increasing its strength by 40% compared to the standard model’s titanium alloy ceramic composite. In addition, the armor on the shins was enlarged to reduce the degree of exposure of the internal frame.
Most of the avionics were new, and its overall performance was improved. The head was enlarged, but this was due to the high-performance sensors installed. Thrusters were added to the sides of the waist to improve mobility compared to the standard Geara Doga.
The mobile suit retained the characteristic Zeon design elements including the monoeye sensor system and angular armor configuration. The enhanced sensor suite provided improved target detection and tracking capabilities for command operations.
Armaments
The Geara Doga Kai had similar weapon configuration as the Geara Doga, but its shield and beam machine gun were of a different design, optimised for the improved performance characteristics of the mobile suit.
Beam machine gun
The Geara Doga Kai was equipped with a beam machine gun as its primary ranged weapon. This weapon was of a different design compared to the standard Geara Doga’s beam machine gun, featuring improved performance characteristics suitable for the enhanced mobile suit.
The weapon was powered by replaceable energy packs (E-pacs) and could deliver sustained fire against enemy targets. Its compact design allowed for effective use in both mid-range and close-range combat scenarios.
Beam sword/axe
For close combat, the mobile suit carried a beam sword/axe that could function in multiple configurations. The weapon could generate different beam blade shapes depending on combat requirements, including a standard sword configuration, a pick-shaped blade for armour penetration, and an axe configuration for maximum cutting power.
The weapon was stored on the rear skirt armour when not in use and could be quickly deployed for melee combat situations.
Electric wire
The Geara Doga Kai could launch wires to ensnare enemies and subdue them with electrical shocks before capture. This non-lethal weapon system provided tactical options for missions requiring enemy capture rather than destruction.
Shield
The mobile suit mounted a shield on its left arm for defensive purposes. This shield was of a different design compared to the standard Geara Doga and incorporated four missile launchers for additional offensive capability.
The shield featured improved anti-beam coating and structural reinforcement to better withstand enemy attacks whilst providing additional firepower through its integrated missile systems.
Variants
AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai (Lehr Doga)
Following the aftermath of Char’s Rebellion in UC 0093, the Earth Federation Forces Instructor Corps used captured Neo Zeon AMS-119 Geara Doga mobile suits in mock battles. The Strategic Naval Research Institute (SNRI) contracted with Buffo Junk, Inc. in UC 0096 to copy three salvaged AMS-119S Geara Doga Custom units, which were named Lehr Doga.
Known pilots
No specific pilots are recorded for the original AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai, as it remained primarily a prototype unit.
Behind the scenes
The AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai was part of the Char’s Counterattack Mobile Suit Variations (CCA-MSV) series, representing Neo Zeon’s efforts to develop improved versions of their mass-production mobile suits.
