ZGMF-515 CGUE
ZAFT commander's mobile suit piloted by Rau Le Creuset.
The ZGMF-515 CGUE was a ZAFT commander’s mobile suit developed for the First Alliance-PLANT War in Cosmic Era 71. The CGUE was an improved version of the standard ZGMF-1017 GINN, featuring enhanced performance and capabilities that made it suitable for commanders and ace pilots. The mobile suit was famously piloted by Rau Le Creuset, a ZAFT commander and the main antagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Model Code Explanation: The “ZGMF” designation indicated a ZAFT Zero-Gravity Maneuver Fighter, whilst “515” was its model number. “CGUE” stood for “Commander GUE” (Commander GINN), reflecting its role as a commander’s mobile suit.
History
The CGUE was developed by ZAFT as an enhanced version of the standard GINN mobile suit, designed specifically for commanders and ace pilots. The mobile suit featured improved performance and capabilities compared to the mass-production GINN, making it more effective in combat whilst maintaining the reliability and versatility of the base design.
The CGUE entered service during the First Alliance-PLANT War and was deployed to ZAFT commanders and elite pilots who required enhanced capabilities beyond those of standard mobile suits. The mobile suit’s improved performance made it effective in various combat scenarios, from space operations to ground engagements.
Notable pilots
The CGUE was most famously piloted by Rau Le Creuset, a ZAFT commander who served as one of the primary antagonists of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Rau’s use of the CGUE demonstrated the mobile suit’s capabilities in the hands of a skilled pilot, and the unit served as his primary mobile suit before he obtained the ZGMF-X13A Providence Gundam.
Design
The CGUE’s design was based on the standard GINN but featured several enhancements that improved its performance. The mobile suit’s frame and armour were reinforced, and its propulsion systems were upgraded to provide better mobility. The CGUE maintained the GINN’s distinctive angular design whilst incorporating improvements that enhanced its combat effectiveness.
The mobile suit’s color scheme varied depending on the pilot, with Rau Le Creuset’s unit featuring a distinctive purple and white colour scheme that set it apart from standard GINNs. The CGUE’s appearance emphasised its role as a commander’s mobile suit, with design elements that reflected its enhanced status.
Armaments
The CGUE was equipped with a variety of weapons that provided versatility in combat:
MMI-M8A3 76mm assault rifle
The CGUE’s primary ranged weapon was a 76mm assault rifle, providing effective firepower against most mobile suits. The weapon was reliable and effective, suitable for various combat scenarios.
M68 “Pardus” recoilless rifle
The CGUE could be equipped with a recoilless rifle for additional firepower, providing enhanced capabilities against heavily armoured targets. This weapon demonstrated the mobile suit’s versatility and adaptability.
MA-M4A heavy assault blade
The CGUE carried a heavy assault blade for close-combat engagements, providing melee capabilities when ranged weapons were not suitable. The weapon reflected ZAFT’s emphasis on versatile combat capabilities.
MMI-M7S 76mm machine gun
