SVMS-01 Union Flag

The SVMS-01 Union Flag (ユニオンフラッグ, Yunion Furaggu) was a mass-production mobile suit developed by the Union in the Anno Domini timeline. The Union Flag was designed for high-speed aerial combat and featured transformation capabilities, making it one of the most advanced conventional mobile suits in service before the introduction of GN technology.

The “SVMS” designation indicated a Space Vehicle Mobile Suit, reflecting the mobile suit’s capability to operate in both atmospheric and space environments. The Union Flag’s design emphasised speed and manoeuvrability, making it effective in aerial combat operations.

History

The Union Flag was developed in Anno Domini 2290 as the Union’s primary mobile suit, replacing older designs with a more capable and versatile unit. The mobile suit’s transformation capabilities and high-speed performance made it effective in various combat environments, establishing it as one of the most advanced conventional mobile suits in service.

The Union Flag was deployed extensively by the Union military, participating in operations throughout the world. The mobile suit’s capabilities were tested when Celestial Being began its armed interventions, as Union Flag units attempted to counter the organisation’s Gundams, though they proved unable to match the Gundams’ superior technology.

The Union Flag continued to serve as the Union’s primary mobile suit even after the introduction of GN technology, with many units upgraded to utilise GN Tau Drives. The mobile suit’s design served as the basis for improved variants and influenced later mobile suit development.

Design

The Union Flag featured a streamlined design optimised for high-speed flight and aerial combat. The mobile suit’s transformation system allowed it to reconfigure into a fighter-like mode for enhanced speed and manoeuvrability, making it highly effective in aerial operations.

Armaments

The Union Flag’s standard weapons were the Linear Rifle for ranged attacks and the Plasma Sword for melee combat.

Plasma Sword
