Scharnhorst Buch (シャルンホルスト・ブッフ, *Sharunhorasuto Buffu) was a businessman and industrialist in the Universal Century timeline. He founded the Buch Concern in UC 0055 as a space salvage business, which grew into a major military-industrial conglomerate.
Biography
Founding of the Buch Concern
Scharnhorst Buch established the Buch Concern in UC 0055, initially operating as a space salvage business. The company recovered materials and equipment from space operations, building a substantial portfolio of assets.
Military expansion
Under Buch’s leadership, the Buch Concern expanded beyond salvage operations. By UC 0106, the company had secretly established the Crossbone Vanguard, an elite private military force. This was done covertly, without public or government knowledge.
The Buch Concern’s subsidiary, Buch Aerodynamics, became known for mobile suit development, including the Dessa type, the first scaled-down mobile suit, rolled out in July UC 0108.
Legacy
Scharnhorst Buch’s creation of the Buch Concern shaped the military-industrial landscape of the Universal Century. The company’s various subsidiaries and offshoots played significant roles in later conflicts, from the Crossbone Vanguard War to the Zanscare Wars.
