Pezun
Military asteroid base operated by various factions throughout the Universal Century.
Pezun was a military asteroid base located at Lagrange Point 4 near Side 2 and Side 5. Originally established by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, it later came under Earth Federation control and served as a base for various factions until its destruction in UC 0088.
History
The Principality of Zeon established Pezun as one of three strategic staging points during the One Year War. The asteroid was positioned at Lagrange Point 4 between Side 2 and Side 5 to guard Zeon’s flank, mirroring the position of Solomon on the opposite side.
During Zeon’s control, Pezun served as a mobile suit development facility. The base was notably responsible for producing the MS-10 Pezun Dowadge, which was named after the facility itself.
After the war, the Earth Federation Forces took control of Pezun and inherited its mobile suit research and development capabilities. The base later became the headquarters for the Titans Mobile Suit Instructor Corps.
When the Earth Federation disbanded the Titans in UC 0088, the Instructor Corps staged a military coup and seized control of Pezun. They declared themselves the New Desides and established the base as their stronghold.
The Federation responded by dispatching Task Force Alpha to suppress the rebellion. After several days of intense combat, the New Desides were forced to abandon the base on 12 March UC 0088. During their retreat, they detonated nuclear warheads to destroy Pezun and inflict casualties on the pursuing Federation fleet.
Behind the scenes
The original MS-X source materials established several Zeon mobile suits as being developed under the “Pezun Project”, though the meaning of “Pezun” was not explained until Gundam Sentinel revealed it as the asteroid base where the development took place.
