Missile Car

The Missile Car was a ground combat vehicle mass produced by the Earth Federation Forces for colony defence during the One Year War.

History

The Earth Federation Forces developed the Missile Car as part of its conventional military forces before the outbreak of the One Year War. When the Principality of Zeon deployed mobile suits in UC 0079, the Federation had no effective countermeasures and had to rely on conventional weapons like the Missile Car.

The Missile Car saw combat during the Zeon attack on Side 7 in September UC 0079. However, its missiles proved ineffective against the armor of the MS-06F Zaku II.

Design

The Missile Car was a six-wheeled armoured vehicle designed specifically for colony defence operations. It used an electric propulsion system powered by ultracompact batteries to prevent pollution within the colonies’ closed environments.

The vehicle required a crew of two—a driver who operated the vehicle and a gunner who controlled the missile launcher. Its primary armament was mounted in the rear section of the main body.

Armaments

The Missile Car’s sole armament was a wire-guided missile launcher system.

Wire-guided missile launcher

An eight-tube wire-guided missile launcher was mounted on the rear section of the main body. The wire guidance system allowed for greater accuracy and the ability to engage targets without direct line of sight, though it limited the effective range of the missiles.

The missiles’ explosive power proved insufficient to penetrate the armor of Zeon mobile suits like the MS-06F Zaku II.
