The MAN-03 Braw Bro was a prototype Newtype-use mobile armour developed by the Principality of Zeon. The “MA” in the model code refers to it being a mobile armour, while the “N” identifies it as a Newtype-use model. Although it was the first unit to be developed, the “03” in the model code indicates that it was the third design.
The emergence of Newtypes, people with heightened spatial awareness and precognition, led to the Principality of Zeon looking into their potential tools in the One Year War The Flanagan Institute was assigned to study Newtypes and develop weapons to tap on their abilities.
After the failures of the initial two designs, the Institute finally developed the prototype MAN-03 Braw Bro. The priority of the research team was to gather flight test data. Hence, the Braw Bro was built with three separable modules to increase the chances of the test data surviving.
The Braw Bro was deployed in battle against the Earth Federation assault carrier White Base in the Corregidor Shoal Zone. Lieutenant Challia Bull was assigned as the pilot and Simus Al Bakharov was the co-pilot. The mobile armour was destroyed by the Federation’s RX-78-2 Gundam, which was piloted by Newtype Amuro Ray.

The MAN-03 Braw Bro was the first mobile weapon that was developed for Newtypes. It was equipped with a psycommu system to allow the pilots to control the mobile armour with their brainwaves. As brainwaves are not affected by Minovsky particle interference, Newtypes were able to control remote weapon units with the psycommu system.

As the Braw Bro was the first of its kind, the research team placed great importrance on the flight test data. They even designed the mobile armour such that it had three component modules. This is to ensure that the test data was more likely to be retrieved should the Braw Bro be damaged in battle.

The main weapons of the Braw Bro were four remote mega particle guns that were linked to the mobile armour by wires.
Two-barrel mega particle guns
A two-barrel mega particle gun was mounted on the top and bottom of the Braw Bro. They were wire-guided remote units that allowed the pilot to attack the enemy from close and long range.
Mega particle guns
A wire-guided mega particle gun was mounted on each flank of the Braw Bro. These remote units had less fire-power than their two-barrelled counterparts, but they make up for the lack of punch with increased speed due to them being lighter.

Kunio Okawara was the original mechanical designer.
