Founding member of the Shrike Team who fought and died for the League Militaire.
Junko Jenko (ジュンコ・ジェンコ, Junko Jenko) was one of the original pilots of the League Militaire’s Shrike Team in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam. Her seasoned judgement and steady nerves helped the resistance withstand the early onslaught of the Zanscare Empire, though she ultimately fell in battle.
Shrike Team Founding Member
Junko Jenko joined the League Militaire with prior piloting experience, making her an obvious choice when Marbet Fingerhat assembled the Shrike Team. She piloted customised mobile suits such as the Gun-EZ to provide heavy fire support for Uso Ewin’s Victory Gundam. Her skill at coordinating formations allowed the Shrike Team to operate as cohesive strike unit despite limited training time.
Leadership on the Reinforce Junior
Beyond the cockpit, Junko Jenko acted as older-sister figure for the League Militaire’s youthful crew. She supported Oliver Inoe and Marbet Fingerhat in drilling new recruits, ensuring the Shrike Team maintained discipline despite the high turnover caused by attrition. Her mixture of humour and blunt honesty steadied the nerves of rookies facing Bespa elites for the first time.
Death in Combat
Junko Jenko was killed during one of the League Militaire’s assaults on Zanscare Empire’s Earth strongholds. Whilst covering a withdrawal, she drew enemy fire to protect the Reinforce Junior and the Victory Gundam, allowing the rest of the Shrike Team to escape. Her sacrifice underscored the grievous losses suffered by the all-female strike squad throughout the campaign.
Legacy
Junko’s death motivated the surviving Shrike Team pilots to continue fighting despite the mounting toll. Her example reinforced the notion that the League Militaire depended on the courage of ordinary adults who willingly risked everything to oppose authoritarian rule. The loss also impressed upon Uso the weight of command and the cost borne by those supporting him.
