Flyarrow

The Flyarrow was a twin-seat fighter aircraft produced by the Earth Federation Forces. It saw limited service during the One Year War.

History

The Earth Federation Forces developed the Flyarrow before the advent of mobile weapons. During the One Year War, the Flyarrow was largely obsolete but continued to serve in a supporting role alongside newer aircraft like the FF-6 TIN Cod and FF-S3 Saberfish.

Some Flyarrow units were assigned to coastal patrol duties. One notable incident occurred at Point 305 when a Flyarrow crash-landed on the island where Cucuruz Doan was in hiding. Doan removed the aircraft’s vulcan guns to prevent their use in combat. The assault carrier White Base received the Flyarrow’s automatic distress signal and dispatched Amuro Ray in an FF-X7 Core Fighter to investigate. However, both crew members were found fatally wounded and strapped to their seats, dying before Amuro could render aid.

Design

The Flyarrow was a conventional twin-seat fighter aircraft powered by three thermonuclear jet engines. It featured distinctive canard wings and a canopy-style cockpit that accommodated a pilot and copilot.

Armaments

The Flyarrow’s standard armament consisted of two vulcan guns mounted in its nose. While effective against conventional aircraft, these weapons proved inadequate against mobile suit armor.

Known pilots

Behind the scenes

Okawara Kunio was the original mechanical designer.

A modified version of the Flyarrow design later appeared in Metal Armor Dragonar, featuring a single vertical stabiliser instead of two.
