EMA-10 Divinidad

The EMA-10 Divinidad was a mobile armor developed by the Jupiter Empire for the destruction of Earth. The “EMA” in the model code indicated it was a mobile armor design, whilst the “10” represented its position as the ultimate weapon in the Jupiter Empire’s arsenal.

History

Created with the intent of destroying Earth, the EMA-10 Divinidad was the Jupiter Empire’s final weapon. The mobile armor represented the Jupiter Empire’s ultimate solution to what they perceived as the Earth Sphere’s corruption and unworthiness to exist.

The Divinidad was designed not merely to defeat Earth’s military forces, but to render the planet completely uninhabitable through nuclear contamination. This genocidal purpose reflected the Jupiter Empire’s complete break from any pretense of civilised warfare, embracing total annihilation as their strategic objective.

Eight Divinidads were produced, with one piloted by the real Crux Dogatie and the other seven by bio-brain copies. This production run represented the Jupiter Empire’s commitment to ensuring Earth’s complete destruction, providing multiple redundant systems to guarantee mission success.

When Dogatie encountered strong resistance from the Earth Federation Forces and Crossbone Vanguard, he had the seven duplicates act as decoys so he could get to Earth and destroy the planet by his own hand. This tactical deployment demonstrated the Jupiter Empire’s willingness to sacrifice multiple strategic assets to achieve their genocidal objective.

During the climactic battle, Dogatie’s Divinidad detached from the Jupitris 9 flagship as a large sphere, entering Earth’s atmosphere for the final assault. The sphere broke apart during atmospheric entry, revealing the mobile armor in its full configuration.

The Divinidad encountered fierce resistance from Tobia Arronax in his XM-X3 Crossbone Gundam X3. Tobia recognised the catastrophic threat posed by the Divinidad, understanding that conventional destruction would trigger the nuclear contamination the weapon was designed to spread.

During the final confrontation in Earth’s ocean, Tobia used his Muramasa blaster to start dismembering the Divinidad. When Dogatie fired the mega particle cannon, destroying the Muramasa blaster, Tobia charged toward the mobile armor and emitted I-fields from both hands at full power. Tobia then ejected in the Core Fighter just before the mega particle cannon shot and I-fields collided, creating a massive explosion. However, the damaged Divinidad emerged from the water again, prompting Kincade Nau to attack the cockpit with his screw whip, finally killing Dogatie and ending the threat.

Design

Armed with an array of nuclear missiles and powered by multiple fusion reactors, the Divinidad could be considered a walking dirty bomb; just one unit could produce enough nuclear fallout to wipe out all life on Earth within 10 minutes. This represented a fundamental shift from mobile armor design, which typically focused on overwhelming firepower rather than planetary extinction.

The multiple fusion reactors served a dual purpose: providing enormous power for the mobile armor’s weapons systems whilst ensuring that any damage to the unit would result in catastrophic nuclear contamination of the surrounding area. This made the Divinidad effectively impossible to destroy through conventional means without triggering the very disaster it was designed to cause.

The Divinidad incorporated an optional bio-brain control system, allowing for autonomous operation without risking human pilots in suicide missions. This technology enabled the Jupiter Empire to field multiple units whilst preserving their leadership for the final assault on Earth.

As a result of its destruction before comprehensive field testing, the Divinidad was destroyed before any real idea of its performance could be established. The mobile armor’s brief operational period provided limited data on its actual combat capabilities beyond its devastating nuclear payload.

Armaments

The Divinidad’s primary weapon system consisted of nuclear missiles for planetary destruction, and beam weapons for tactical combat.

Nuclear missile array

The Divinidad’s primary weapon system consisted of 16 nuclear missiles mounted in its chest. These weapons represented the mobile armor’s core function as an instrument of planetary extinction rather than tactical warfare. Each missile was designed to spread maximum radioactive contamination across Earth’s surface.

Medium beam cannon

Mounted in the left eye, this weapon provided precise targeting capability for engaging individual targets during the approach to Earth.

Super-large beam cannon

A massive weapon mounted in the head, capable of battleship-class firepower. This beam weapon served primarily to clear a path to Earth and eliminate any defenders attempting to prevent the nuclear bombardment.

Beam shields

Mounted on the forearms to deflect incoming attacks during the approach to Earth and provide defensive capability against enemy mobile suits.

Feather funnels

The Divinidad’s feather funnels represented an unusual application of remote weapon technology. Though its arsenal included countless feather funnels that were strong enough to ram enemy mobile suits, these were merely secondary to its main purpose.

Unlike traditional funnels that relied on beam weapons, the feather funnels were designed for physical impact, using their mass and speed to destroy enemy mobile suits through ramming attacks. This approach proved effective against the swarm tactics employed by Earth Federation forces.

Known pilots

  • Crux Dogatie
  • Bio-brain copies of Crux Dogatie

Variants

No known variants were produced. The Divinidad was designed as a single-purpose weapon with no need for variant configurations.

Behind the scenes

The EMA-10 Divinidad first appeared in Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam manga and was designed by Hasegawa Yuichi. The mobile armor’s name “Divinidad” (Spanish for “divinity”) reflects the Jupiter Empire’s messianic belief in their mission to “purify” the Earth Sphere through nuclear annihilation.

The model number EMA-10 follows Jupiter Empire conventions, with EMA indicating a mobile armor design and 10 representing its position as the ultimate weapon in their arsenal. The unit’s genocidal purpose and nuclear payload made it one of the most morally reprehensible weapons in Universal Century history.
