Crux Dogatie

Crux Dogatie (クルックス・ドガチ, Kurukkusu Dogachi) was the Supreme Leader of the Jupiter Empire and the primary antagonist of Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam. He was the father of Bernadette Briett, who later defected to the Crossbone Vanguard to oppose him.

Background

Crux was among the earliest colonists sent to Jupiter, spending roughly seventy years helping build the Jupiter colonies. When the Earth Federation proposed a political marriage to the ageing Dogatie (over eighty years old) to extend control over Jupiter, he developed a deep hatred for the Federation. That resentment grew when his young wife’s kindness made him feel his decades of labour had been erased, and he founded the Jupiter Empire to exact vengeance whilst presenting himself as a man of peace to gain the Federation’s trust.

Jupiter Empire

Under Dogatie, the Jupiter Empire spread propaganda in the harsh Jovian environment, promising the population that they would one day conquer Earth and escape rationed water and oxygen. Only high-ranking members such as the Death Gale team knew his true plans. The Empire became the main antagonist force in Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam and its sequel Steel Seven.

Family

Crux’s daughter Bernadette Briett defected from the Jupiter Empire to join the Crossbone Vanguard and fight beside Tobia Arronax, placing her in direct opposition to her father’s regime.

Behind the scenes

Crux Dogatie was created by Hasegawa Yuichi for Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam, based on notes by Tomino Yoshiyuki. He is distinct from the F91 characters Seabook Arno (alias Kincade Nau) and Cecily Fairchild (alias Berah Ronah).
