Diebuster (2004–2006) is set about 12,000 years after Gunbuster. Topless pilots use psychic links with sentient Buster Machines. Nono idolises “Nono-riri”—Noriko Takaya—and is revealed to be Buster Machine 7. Directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki; produced by Gainax for their 20th anniversary.
