Daichi Manatsu

Daichi Manatsu (真夏 ダイチ) is the protagonist of Captain Earth. A second-year high school student, he travels to Tanegashima Island—home to Japan’s space centre—and discovers he is the pilot of the Earth Engine Impacter, the biomechanical Kiltgang needed to protect Earth from the Kill-T-Gang, aliens who drain humanity’s life force.

Daichi must accept the title of “Captain Earth” that his father Taiyou once held and come to terms with his father’s mysterious death. He forms the Midsummer’s Knights with fellow pilots Hana Mutou, Teppei Arashi, and Akari Yomatsuri. His arc explores inherited responsibility and growing into the role of protector, central to the series’ themes of cosmic duty and adolescent growth.
