Biography

Cornelius’s story follows a Moore Brotherhood technician who kept Daryl Lorenz combat-ready throughout the Thunderbolt Sector campaign.

Moore Brotherhood service

Cornelius joined the Brotherhood as a civilian technician after losing his home colony during the One Year War. Grateful for the protection the fleet offered displaced colonists, he dedicated himself to maintaining their mobile suits amid the sector’s lethal debris storms. His engineering aptitude quickly made him indispensable aboard the Brotherhood’s Musai-class support ships, where scarce parts and constant repairs defined daily life.

Prosthetic support

When Daryl sacrificed his limbs to obtain neural feedback data for Zeon’s prosthetic interface research, Cornelius assumed responsibility for calibrating the pilot’s replacement limbs. He routinely adjusted the socket alignment hardware and neural drivers to keep Daryl synchronised with the Psycho Zaku’s high-feedback controls. The trust forged in the maintenance bay became the emotional anchor that kept Daryl focused despite mounting trauma.

Physical appearance

Federation intelligence reports describe Cornelius among the Moore Brotherhood deck crews as a blond, broad-shouldered technician who favoured sleeveless maintenance overalls layered beneath a grease-stained flight jacket—standard attire for mechanics working zero-gravity repairs in the Thunderbolt Sector.

Personality & traits

Within the Moore Brotherhood, Cornelius embodied steadfast loyalty. He refused evacuation even as casualty lists grew, citing gratitude toward the comrades who sheltered him after his colony’s destruction. His easy humour and optimism counterbalanced Daryl’s stoicism, showing a compassion rooted in friendship rather than ideology.

Skills & abilities

Operating inside the Thunderbolt Sector, Cornelius blended biomedical upkeep with mobile suit optimisation. He specialised in prosthetic tuning, recalibrating neural feedback pathways so amputee pilots could withstand high-output frames such as the MS-06R Zaku II High Mobility Type and the MS-06R Zaku II Psycommu Test Type. He also managed field repairs under constant Minovsky interference, coordinating supply crews to keep the Brotherhood’s squadrons operational.

Relationships

Cornelius’s relationships centred on the Brotherhood pilots whose survival depended on his maintenance crews.

Daryl Lorenz

Cornelius served as Daryl’s confidant and caretaker. He monitored the pilot’s prosthetics, adjusted combat rigging between sorties, and offered emotional support when Daryl wrestled with survivor’s guilt.

Moore Brotherhood crews

As senior technician, he supervised enlisted mechanics and medical aides aboard the Brotherhood’s carrier groups. His mentorship kept morale stable during prolonged engagements and ensured junior technicians learned the nuances of Thunderbolt-specific maintenance.

Military career

Within the Principality of Zeon remnants, Cornelius held the equivalent of a chief warrant officer post in the Brotherhood’s engineering corps. He scheduled sortie turnarounds, triaged damaged suits, and liaised with Side 3 prosthetics researchers to feed battlefield data back to Zeon. His efforts sustained the Psycho Zaku programme long enough for Zeon remnants to field the unit against the Federation’s Full Armour Gundam.

Equipment

Zeon quartermasters issued Cornelius mobile maintenance pods, injectable medgel kits, and portable neural interface calibrators—tools necessary to keep augmented pilots combat-capable during the Thunderbolt campaign.

Legacy

Cornelius’s dedication allowed the Moore Brotherhood to challenge the Earth Federation far longer than their depleted resources should have permitted. The battlefield data he preserved kept the Psycho Zaku project alive, influencing subsequent Zeon remnant prosthetic programmes even after the Brotherhood’s collapse.

Behind the scenes

Cornelius Caka was created for Yasuo Ohtagaki’s Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt manga and subsequent OVAs. His role underscores the importance of support crews in sustaining mobile suit warfare.
