Black Vanguard

The Black Vanguard (ブラック・バンガード, Burakku Bangādo) was the elite mobile suit corps of the Crossbone Vanguard, serving as Cosmo Babylonia’s premier combat unit. Led by Zabine Chareux during the Frontier Side conflict in UC 0123, the Black Vanguard spearheaded the invasion of Frontier IV and represented the aristocratic military ideal of the Crossbone Vanguard.

Role

The Black Vanguard comprised the Crossbone Vanguard’s best pilots and highest-performance mobile suits, including the XM-07 Vigna Ghina. Dorel Ronah directed the invasion of Frontier IV with Den’an Gei squadrons supported by Black Vanguard aces. Cecily Fairchild (Berah Ronah) briefly fought in a customised Vigna Ghina as part of the unit. After the collapse of Cosmo Babylonia, Black Vanguard veterans such as Zabine continued to appear in the Jupiter sphere in Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam.
