Anti-Earth Union Group
Anti-Federation resistance movement formed to oppose the Titans.
The Anti-Earth Union Group (AEUG) was an anti-Earth Federation resistance movement formed to oppose the oppressive tactics of the Titans. Though initially focused on political reform of the corrupt Federation government, the AEUG shifted to armed resistance following the Colony 30 Incident in UC 0085.
History
The AEUG emerged in UC 0085 as a political movement seeking to reform the corrupt Earth Federation government. Following the Colony 30 Incident in Side 1 perpetrated by the Titans, the organization took up arms against the Federation’s elite taskforce.
The movement drew support from dissatisfied colonists, defected Federation soldiers, and several ex-Zeon officials posing as Federation officers. Notable members included One Year War veterans Bright Noa, Henken Bekkener, and Quattro Bajeena, alongside AEUG founder Blex Forer and civilian Newtype recruit Kamille Bidan.
In UC 0087, the AEUG raided a Titans facility at the Green Noa 2 colony in Side 2, stealing three prototype RX-178 Gundam Mk-II units. This incident sparked the full-scale Gryps Conflict between the factions.
During the year-long civil war, the AEUG engaged Titans forces across the Earth Sphere. They ultimately prevailed by using the captured Gryps Colony Laser against the Titans fleet. However, while the AEUG and Titans fought each other, Axis Zeon under Haman Karn emerged as the true victor.
The AEUG shifted its focus to fighting the new Neo Zeon movement during the First Neo Zeon War. However, still recovering from the Gryps Conflict, only the assault carrier Argama and its skeleton crew initially saw action. The organization officially disbanded after the war in UC 0088, with most members joining the Federation’s Londo Bell task force.
Organisation
Unlike other military organizations, the AEUG operated as a loosely organized resistance movement. Their military force consisted primarily of defected ships and stolen mobile suits. The group maintained relaxed uniform codes and military procedures, with members wearing modified Federation tunics, standard Federation uniforms, or civilian clothing.
The AEUG’s activities were largely funded by private sector entities, notably Anaheim Electronics and the Luio Company. This led to non-military officials taking leadership positions alongside military commanders. Corporate representatives like Wong Lee frequently oversaw strategic operations aboard AEUG vessels.
Military strength
The AEUG’s main fleet comprised several Salamis-class cruisers, at least five Irish-class battleships, and their flagship assault carrier Argama. Their mobile suit forces included:
- RX-178 Gundam Mk-II
- MSA-005 Methuss
- MSA-003 Nemo
- MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki
- RMS-099 Rick Dias
- MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam
The transformable MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam became their signature mobile suit, symbolizing their resistance much like the Federation’s RX-78-2 Gundam during the One Year War.
