The Tetsujin 28-go manga is the original work in the Tetsujin 28-go franchise, written and illustrated by Yokoyama Mitsuteru for Shōnen magazine from 1956 to 1966. It introduces ten-year-old Shotaro Kaneda, who remotely controls the towering war-weapon Tetsujin 28 with a handheld device.
Through its post-war setting and morally neutral super weapon, the manga establishes core themes of technological responsibility, generational handover, and the ambiguous legacy of wartime science that later adaptations would continue to explore.
