Super Dimension Fortress Macross is the original Macross TV series. When the alien Zentradi attack, the crew of the SDF-1 Macross—and pilot Hikaru Ichijō—use Variable Fighters such as the VF-1 Valkyrie to fight back. The series established the franchise’s blend of mecha action, the idol Lynn Minmay, and the love triangle with Misa Hayase. It aired in Japan from October 1982 to June 1983.
