United States of South America
South American member state of the Earth Alliance that resisted Atlantic Federation domination during the Cosmic Era.
The United States of South America (南米合衆国, Nanbei Gasshūkoku) was a sovereign state during the Cosmic Era that encompassed South America and played a significant role in early Earth Alliance politics.
Overview
The USSA was an independent federal state that initially cooperated with the Atlantic Federation on major infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Porta Panama mass driver. Unlike other Earth nations, it resisted joining the Earth Alliance’s war effort against the PLANTs.
History
Refusal and Annexation
When the Atlantic Federation declared war on the PLANTs following the formation of the Earth Alliance in C.E. 70, the United States of South America refused to cooperate. In response, the Atlantic Federation forcibly annexed the USSA’s territory.
Rebellion and Independence
Following the ceasefire at Jachin Due, the USSA rebelled against Atlantic Federation control. Prominent figures in this rebellion included former Earth Alliance ace Edward Harrelson, also known as “Ed the Ripper.”
While the Treaty of Junius eventually granted the USSA its autonomy, the Atlantic Federation retained control of Central America, permanently altering the political map of the Americas.
