Features

The RX-78-2 Gundam, a mobile suit created in the Universal Century, was researched thoroughly for this model. Its 18m frame has been condensed into a 1/144 scale Gunpla that features the finest precision. Core Fighter A unit that makes up the Core Block System, the core system of the RX series. It can transform into a compact fighter during emergencies, serving as an escape vehicle. Typically, however, this feature tends to be used for patrol or reconnaissance. Dynamic movements as seen in the animation In films, Gundams are not portrayed as mere weapons or machines. As mobile suits designed for close combat, they are seen skillfully navigating through battlefields with human-like mobility. The RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 features brand-new joint mechanisms that allow for the same fluid, flexible movements shown in the series. To ensure that the model looks great from all angles, every part has been adjusted, and the armor has been meticulously designed. The RG series’ unique mechanisms make it possible to arrange the model in dynamic poses, letting users recreate their favorite scenes from the franchise. Newly developed auxiliary joints are mounted inside the Core Block, allowing for dynamic poses when attached to the unit. The grip for the Beam Rifle can be moved around with ease, allowing for two-handed aiming that looks natural. Joints have also been added above the wrists, allowing for more flexibility and subtle adjustments when posing. The rack for the Beam Saber can be moved around, allowing for a natural sword-drawing pose. When equipping the Bazooka, the rack can be rotated to an unobstructive position. An internal frame modeled after the series The internal frame was designed to resemble the semi-monocoque layout from the settings. The parts for the frame and internals are detailed intricately, and the different metals have distinct colors and textures. All of these features culminate in a realistic Gundam that looks like an authentic industrial product. Internal frame design based on semi-monocoque layout The internal frame was designed to resemble the semi-monocoque layout from the series. This “semi-monocoque layout” refers to the pillars and frame that make up the structure of the model, as well as the outer panels, which help support its weight. The advantage of using this composition for Mobile Suits is that the cockpit environment can be fully utilized as a space to equip and store various devices. It also allows for lighter weight than if a skeletal structure were to be used for the interior. Details are thoroughly recreated through mold colors Details like the twin eyes or cheek ducts have been faithfully preserved through the mold colors. The main camera has details engraved on each side and gives an illusion of having depth when viewed from the front. Turning joint The new “turning joint” structure allows users to rotate the model around during assembly. It provides high mobility while looking great at the same time. Since a field motor is supposed to be located in the cylindrical part, an axis of revolution has been installed in the area. This mechanism helps faithfully recreate the original unit in a way that does not compromise on design or function. Exterior movement redesigned with close-combat mobile suit Gundam’s settings in mind The exterior follows the movements of the internal frame. Moving parts that need to be protected during close combat are covered by the exterior.
