Mu civilization
The Mu civilization (ムー) in RahXephon is the interdimensional civilisation that deploys Dolems. Director Izubuchi drew on James Churchward’s theories about the lost continent of Mu; the Mu reappear one week after 21 December 2012 (end of the Mayan Long Count). Ayato’s heritage connects him to both humanity and the Mu.
