Man Hunter Vehicle
Patrol vehicle used by the Federation Criminal Police Organization for hunting illegal migrants.
The Man Hunter Vehicle was a patrol vehicle used by the Federation Criminal Police Organization (FCPO), commonly known as Man Hunter. The vehicle was designed for routine sweeps on Earth to find undocumented migrants who were living on the planet.
History
The Man Hunter Vehicle was developed as part of the Earth Federation’s increasingly aggressive policies towards illegal immigration in the early UC 100s. By UC 0105, the Federation had implemented an inhuman “Man Hunter” policy in which civilians were forcibly exiled to outer space. The Man Hunter Vehicles served as the primary ground transport for Man Hunter units conducting routine sweeps and raids on suspected illegal immigrant communities.
The vehicles were equipped with sirens to announce their presence and intimidate civilians during operations. Their distinctive appearance became a symbol of the Federation’s oppressive enforcement policies, striking fear into Earth’s underclass population.
In April UC 0105, Man Hunter Vehicles were deployed during a major sweep operation in the Philippine city of Davao. These vehicles worked in coordination with RGM-89Gmh Jegan Ground Type A (Man Hunter) mobile suits to harass and intimidate civilians suspected of lacking proper residence permits. The operation demonstrated the systematic nature of the Federation’s enforcement efforts against illegal immigrants.
Design
The Man Hunter Vehicle was designed as a multi-passenger patrol vehicle capable of transporting Man Hunter personnel and detained civilians. While specific technical specifications remain unknown, the vehicle’s design prioritised functionality and intimidation over comfort or diplomatic considerations.
The vehicle featured prominent sirens as its primary identifying characteristic. These served both to clear traffic during operations and to announce the presence of Man Hunter forces to local populations. The psychological impact of the sirens was an intentional aspect of the vehicle’s design, contributing to the climate of fear that the Man Hunter units sought to create.
Equipment
The Man Hunter Vehicle was equipped with sirens for crowd control and operational announcements. Unlike the accompanying Man Hunter Jegan mobile suits, the vehicles lacked fixed armaments, relying on their crew’s personal weapons and the intimidation factor of their presence.
The vehicles were designed to accommodate multiple passengers, allowing them to transport both Man Hunter personnel and detained civilians during sweep operations. This dual-purpose capability made them essential for the logistics of mass deportation operations.
Operational use
The Man Hunter Vehicles were typically deployed in coordination with other Federation forces, including mobile suits and regular military personnel. Their primary role was transportation and logistics support during Man Hunter operations, though their presence also served important psychological warfare functions.
During operations in urban areas like Davao, the vehicles would patrol streets and position themselves strategically to control civilian movement. Their sirens and distinctive appearance served as clear warnings to illegal immigrants and sympathisers that Man Hunter operations were underway.
The vehicles played a crucial role in the Federation’s systematic enforcement of immigration policy, representing the ground-level implementation of broader political decisions made by the corrupt Federation leadership.
Behind the scenes
The Man Hunter Vehicle was designed by Katoki Hajime, Yamane Kimitoshi, Nobuhiko Genba, and Seiichi Nakatani for the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway film adaptation. The vehicle’s design reflects the film’s themes of oppression and systematic injustice within the Earth Federation.
