John Bauer
Earth Federation official who backed Londo Bell's expansion before the Second Neo Zeon War.
John Bauer (ジョン・バウアー, Jon Bauā) was a high-level Earth Federation government official during the Second Neo Zeon War in UC 0093. He recognised the gravity of Char Aznable’s return and backed the expansion of Londo Bell in anticipation of armed conflict.
Role
When Char returned from his disappearance after the Gryps Conflict and declared himself leader of Neo Zeon, the Federation moved to build up its forces. John Bauer supported the rapid expansion of Londo Bell’s size so the Federation could respond to the threat. On 27 February UC 0093, after Char openly declared war with the intent of forcing humanity into space, the Federation continued to reinforce Londo Bell under Bauer’s backing; those reinforcements nevertheless proved insufficient for the scale of Char’s Axis Drop and the Axis Shock that followed.
Behind the scenes
John Bauer was created for Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack to represent the Federation’s political response to Char’s resurgence and to give context to Londo Bell’s buildup.
