Jachin Due

Jachin Due (ヤキン・ドゥエ, Yakin Due) was a defensive facility developed by ZAFT at the L5 Lagrange Point in the Cosmic Era timeline. The facility served as one of two defensive installations, along with Boaz, designed to protect the PLANTs from enemy attacks during the First Alliance-PLANT War. Jachin Due was destroyed in CE 71 during the final stages of the conflict.

History

Jachin Due was constructed by ZAFT as part of the defensive infrastructure for the PLANTs at L5 Lagrange Point. The facility was built in conjunction with Boaz to create a comprehensive defensive system that could intercept and destroy enemy forces attempting to attack the PLANT colonies. The two facilities were strategically positioned to provide overlapping defensive coverage.

The facility’s construction reflected ZAFT’s commitment to defending the PLANTs and ensuring the safety of Coordinator populations. Jachin Due and Boaz together formed a formidable defensive barrier that made direct attacks on the PLANTs extremely difficult.

Destruction

Jachin Due was destroyed in CE 71 during the final stages of the First Alliance-PLANT War. The facility’s destruction occurred as part of the escalating conflict and the battle for control over the L5 Lagrange Point region. The loss of Jachin Due, along with Boaz, significantly weakened the PLANTs’ defensive capabilities.

The facility’s destruction demonstrated the intensity of the final battles of the war and the willingness of both sides to engage in large-scale combat operations to achieve their objectives. The loss of defensive installations like Jachin Due made the PLANTs more vulnerable to attack, contributing to the war’s conclusion.

Design

Jachin Due was designed as a large-scale defensive facility capable of intercepting and engaging enemy forces at long range. The facility incorporated weapon systems and defensive capabilities that made it effective against both mobile suit and vessel attacks. Its design emphasised long-range engagement and area defence.

The facility’s construction required significant resources and engineering expertise, reflecting ZAFT’s technological capabilities and commitment to protecting the PLANTs. Jachin Due’s size and weapon systems made it a formidable defensive installation, capable of engaging multiple targets simultaneously.

Strategic importance

Jachin Due, along with Boaz, served as critical defensive installations for the PLANTs, providing protection against Earth Alliance attacks. The facilities’ strategic positioning at L5 Lagrange Point made them essential components of the PLANTs’ defensive infrastructure, as they controlled access routes to the colonies.

The facilities’ presence forced Earth Alliance forces to consider alternative approaches when planning attacks on the PLANTs, as direct assaults through the defensive installations would be extremely costly. The defensive system created by Jachin Due and Boaz demonstrated ZAFT’s defensive strategy and its commitment to protecting Coordinator populations.

Behind the scenes

The names “Boaz” and “Jachin Due” (or “Jachin and Boaz”) are references to the two pillars that stood at the entrance to Solomon’s Temple in the Hebrew Bible. These pillars were significant architectural features that symbolised strength and stability, making the naming choice appropriate for defensive installations designed to protect the PLANTs.
