Isami Ao

Isami Ao (蒼 イサミ) is the human protagonist of Brave Bang Bravern!. A reserved soldier in the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, he is in Hawaii for joint exercises with the US when the Deathdrives invade; the talking super robot Bravern appears and only Isami can pilot him.

Isami’s stoic, understated personality contrasts with Bravern’s hot-blooded declarations and super-robot heroics. Their partnership drives the series’ blend of Titanostrider military action and super robot spectacle, and his bond with Lewis Smith and Bravern forms the emotional core of the story.
