G-Fighter Space Type

The G-Fighter Space Type was a space fighter produced by the Earth Federation Forces in UC 0079.

History

The Earth Federation Forces developed the G-Fighter Space Type as a variant of the G-Fighter Bomber Type specifically for space operations. The Federation removed the bomb storage compartment and replaced it with an additional rocket engine to improve its performance in space.

Design

The G-Fighter Space Type featured a standard canopy-style cockpit in its nose section that accommodated a pilot and co-pilot. The Federation designed it with modular weapon mounts behind the cockpit that could equip either beam cannons or missile launchers depending on mission requirements.

Like its predecessor, the G-Fighter Space Type had no caterpillar treads. Instead, it featured an additional rocket engine in place of the bomb compartment to enhance its propulsion capabilities in space. This modification significantly improved its speed and manoeuvrability in zero gravity environments.

Armaments

The G-Fighter Space Type’s standard weapons were vulcan guns and missile launchers for ranged attacks. It could also mount optional beam cannons.

Vulcan guns

Four 25 mm vulcan guns were mounted on the sides of the fighter’s nose, with two on each side. These fire-linked guns served as the primary weapons. While they could not significantly damage mobile suit armor, their rapid fire could distract enemy pilots.

Nose missiles

The G-Fighter Space Type had two missiles mounted in its nose section for additional firepower.

Three-tube missile launchers

A pair of three-tube missile launchers were mounted on top of the fighter behind the cockpit. These missiles could target enemy mobile suits, ships, or ground installations.

Beam cannons

The fighter could equip two optional beam cannons mounted behind the cockpit. These beam weapons could be swapped out for the missile launchers depending on mission requirements.

Behind the scenes
