Brain Powerd

Brain Powerd (1998) is the sole animated series in the Brain Powerd franchise, directed by Tomino Yoshiyuki. Set on a near-future Earth destabilised by the awakening of the alien spacecraft Orphan, it follows Hime Utsumiya and Yuu Isami as they pilot living Antibody mecha called Brain Powerds aboard the battleship Novis Noah to prevent humanity’s extinction.

The series contrasts positive-emotion-born Brain Powerds with the darker Grand Chers aligned with Orphan’s Reclaimers, using organic mecha design and emotionally dependent combat systems to explore environmental responsibility, family dysfunction, and psychological health.
