Anti-Zaku Tank

The Anti-Zaku Tank was a tank produced by the Earth Federation.

History

The Principality of Zeon introduced mobile suits into warfare and that gave it the upperhand during the start of the One Year War. The Earth Federation struggled to respond to the threat that mobile suits posed.

While it developed its own mobile suits in its Project V programme, the Federation produced anti-mobile suit tanks as a temporary measure. Although the Anti-Zaku Tank was useful in battle, its combat ability was vastly inferior to that of the Zeon mobile suits.

The tank was eventually replaced when the Federation started rolling out its mass-produced mobile suits.

Design

The Anti-Zaku Tank was developed to take out the mobile suits operated by the Principality of Zeon, specifically the Zaku. These included the Zaku I models MS-05A and the MS-05B, and some models from the Zaku II line.

Although the tank’s firepower was weak, it was able to penetrate the armour of the MS-06F Zaku II. However, more heavily armoured variants were able to withstand its attack. The tank was usually deployed in groups to give it the advantage of numbers and the use of battle tactics to take out enemy mobile suits.

The tank required a crew of three to operate it: a driver, a navigator and a gunner.

Armaments

The tank was had a pair of high-powered machine guns that were able to punch through the armour of a Zaku unit.

Behind the scenes
