Territories beyond Earth, the Moon and the colonies at the Earth-Moon Langrangian Points were considered outside the Earth Sphere. These were not under the influence of the Earth Federation. They included settlements on Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

Mars

After the One Year War, some Zeon remnants fled to Mars and established Mars Zeon. They established a base on the volcanic mountain Olympus Mons. Part of the Zeon remnants formed ReZeon under the leadership of Alicia Zabi.

Mars Zeon converted the mountain into a giant rail cannon with plans to use it to bombard Earth. The Earth Federation sent the Mars Autonomous Squadron to Mars in UC 111 to defeat Mars Zeon.

Jupiter

Jupiter was the source of Helium-3 used in Minovsky fusion. The Earth Federation’s Jupiter Engery Fleet travelled between Earth and Jupiter to harvest Helium-3.

Colonies in the Jupiter Sphere were mostly open-type Island 3 Type O’Neil cylinder colonies. However, they generated less artificial gravity compared to their Earth Sphere counterparts. Some of the Jovian colonies were a series of close-type colonies linked to form a helix. Other colonies included asteroid base and a settlement on Jupiter’s moon Io.

The Jupiter Empire was established in UC 120 and it consisted of colonies within the Jupiter Sphere. The Empire invaded Earth in UC 0133 but was thwarted by the Crossbone Vanguard.

The Empire used an asteroid in orbit that between Earth and Jupiter for mining and resupplying trips in the Earth Sphere. It was named Neverland by the family that occupied it until it was seized by the Empire in UC 0123.

An attempt by the Empire to strike Earth with a colony laser was foiled by the Crossbone Vanguard in UC 0136.

Beyond the Jupiter Sphere

The Crossbone Vanguard was active near Saturn. The Jupiter Foundation’s Argos Odyssey survey project encountered a derelict Crossbone Vanguard cargo ship near Saturn. The project also surveyed the Uranus and Neptune regions.
